About Us

Mother and daughter crafting from home.

Annie Leaman is a homage to our ancestors from Kings Lynn in Norfolk. The Leaman's / Leman's of Kings Lynn were part of a group called the "North Enders of Kings Lynn". They were hard working families mainly fishermen who knew how to make do and mend.

Mama Leaman was born there and spent the first 10 years of her life mainly with her Nanny Leaman who taught her how to knit, how to cook and lots more. Nanny Leaman fed the family, the family had an allotment and they went on shoots. They had chickens on the allotment too and a barrel of fish (in sea water) at the back door. There were apple rings hanging from the ceiling drying out, eggs preserved in the shed at the back along with game that had been captured. There was often a pot of soup on the Aga and always a pot of tea to be had.

Daughter Leaman runs the digital side of things and as the business grows will contribute her own crochet designs, drawings and paintings. But for now most of the items you see will be from Mama Leaman.

This is a new venture for us. We won't be offering custom designs or request to make specific things at the moment. We craft in our own time and add items as and when they are finished. We don't expect the shop to be open all year round and we will focus on a few seasons. There are only one or two items of everything to get us started as we learn what is more popular we made add more of each. But we don't want to make lots of things that don't sell because that would be a waste.
